Hello all. I am new to this forum, but ecstatic to be here. Well, I have an immense passion for Mantids. I love every aspect of them, lol. I live in Kentucky, America, and they are common (not common enough lol), and I have 3 at the moment, and even though i know a lot about the mantids, I don't know the different species regretfully. Neither do I own a digital camera. One is about 2 inches long and dark brown with pitch black wings. The wings are fully developed so I am pretty sure it is adult. A second one is a jade green, and instead of the praying position, it tends to sit outstretched with its forearms placed in front of it. (it also has a damaged wing, but can - and does - fly very well. It is about 4 inches long. My thrid one is my largest, it is about 5.5 inches long, and is a dark green in color. It can fly but doesn't tend to very often. I feed them with the grass hoppers, locusts, and crickets I catch in my back yard. ANY tips and ID would be appreciated immensely!
