I think it’s beyond safe to say my Solifuge is molting.

Stopped feeding 8/18/21. Inactivity began 8/22/21, appearing literally dead but as days went on, legs slowly started to bend back, as well as every now and then seeing twitches in the legs as well as head. Plus abdomen movement/compressions. Today, 9/6/21, all legs now aimed backwards.

I’m taking detailed notes on the whole process along with pictures and hopefully a video if I can catch it happen. This can be a long process with these. I looked and didn’t find much in the way of documenting on these and their molting process, aside from a thread here.

I’m lucky enough to have a window into the burrow by chance.

How exciting! The legs bent back like that and the inactivity are indeed the hallmarks of pre-molt. As Edan said, it can take months. Best of luck to yours!

Still molting. Absolutely insane how their molt process is.
I’ve caught them, and kept them for short periods of time. Never seen them molt, that’s why I’m curious.

It’s just insane how long this process is with them, like suspended animation, absolutely no change in position since posting, still a faint twitch here and there. I have 5 of my tarantulas currently in pre molt and they’re going to probably molt and harden up before this one actually molts lol my Giant Centipede only took a hour this morning to molt 🤣

I completely forgot to update, a successful molt took place around the middle of October. It only took forever.
