Hi ,

I just received in a new Egyptian Camel Spider and it is accepting food but my question to you is arent they supposed to eat the whole cricket? It seems to chew up the crics for a while but doesn't eat it entirely. There is always a leftover blob of mush. Is this normal. It's body measures approx. 2 inches. Thanks for any help.

It is normal for solifuges to leave leftover material from their prey. They often mutilate the prey just to get the liquids from the creature, as mostly being desert dwellers, solifugids do not have many oportunities to get water.

Great guys,

Thanks alot for the replies..I was starting to worry a bit. Man this thing IS AN EATING MACHINE. No joke ..it ate 12 crics the first day I arrived here. And I've never seen anything burrow like this..an absolutly amazing acachnid..a must have for any hobbyist. And it's really cool that you get to see it walking around and burrow and stuff..man I wish they lasted like T..20 years.

Thanks alot again,
Mike
