Do any of you use wet paper towels as substrate for your pedes?

Is it safe?

I am using it for my little stone centipedes and so far things are doing good. My pedes are eating well and there is a lot of moisture.

Are there any dangers for using soaked paper towels?

You can expext a moldy paper towel and a dead pede. You should only be using paper towels for shipping, because they mold after an extended period of time. Also you might consider how centipedes live naturaly. I think almost all are terrestrial and live most of their lives in the earth. Now I know its probably disputed depth of substrate vs surface area. That's up to you, but appart from that I prefer depth over area. Just as long as the pede can stretch out its full length... blah blah. I'm not speaking with any authority, but I don't think any one would recomend using paper towels as an alternative substrate option.

Even if I rinse(clean) the paper towel every day? It will still mold? My centipedes are doing fantastic so far, so I don't know. I will need to see more answers!

Why would you want the maintenance of changing paper towels every day vs. a proper substrate that is less work for you and allows the animal a more appropriate environment?

And people can "survive" by eating nothing but Kitkat bars and diet Coke- that doesnt mean you should.

If you asked the question, you obviously have some doubt in your mind, so I would do your animals a favor and, like Niffarious said, give them a more appropriate environment.

yeah rinse it everyday...that sounds great...get the sturdy kind so you can get a few rinses out of it...that should work.

It's a decent solution for overnight shipping, but not long term.

These are burrowing animals.
