...at least i can have it in my dorm :)

i got a male halfmoon betta today. it's solid blue and the outter portion of his fins are bright white with a pearly sheen to them.

will post pics when i can figure out why my kodak program on my computer keeps freezing up and not working... :wall:

Hope your not one of those people who thinks they'll be happy in a vase and live in mud puddles in the wild.

well, i guess this wasn't meant to be..

he was almost dead this morning, swimming in an odd manner. now he is resting at the bottom. he is gone.

time for a return to PetCo. i hate when this happens :(

Wow, that was quick...
hell yeah... but i took him back and got another betta lol

this time, it's a purple male crowned. not as pretty as the last one, but still nice nonetheless

so maybe this time it will all work out

well damn.. the new one died too. i guess it's just time for me to get my money back instead of doing an exchange. i knew from the beginning not to get a betta, my luck with fish sucks.

are you dechlorinating the water? Bettas are relatively hardy and should last at least a year.

if you got it from petco or petsmart, you should be able to bring a sample of your water in and have it tested. bottled spring water doesn't necessarily mean its dechlorinated...

The sell bottle of "betta" water conditioner at most petsmart/petco locations. I'd suggest using it. Just because the water is purified, doesn't mean it's de-chlorinted and doesn't contain nitrites, nitrates, and all sorts of other things fish don't agree with.

Try another one and de-chlorinate the water. Hopefully it'll live long enough. I got one from Pet Co and it's still alive and it's been longer than a year.

Hmm I've kept numerous bettas and they all lived for 3 or 4 years. Try letting the water sit for at least 24 hours before putting it in the tank. If you don't want to wait that long, you can use Start Right. It conditions the water and removes all the harmful stuff.
