I'm just curious, are there any snakes that are available in the pet trade that only eat crickets and/or other insects instead of mice/rats?

The Rough Green Snake & the Smooth Green Snake. Their diet is crickets & other small insects. Opheodrys aestivus & O. vernalis. Native in parts of the US & Canada. All the ones I have seen are very friendly & non-agressive they make great pets!

According to my guidebook, the rough green snake is larger, 22"-32", a climber and readily enters water.

The smooth green snake is 12"-20" and is terrestrial.

Rough green is in the southeast, smooth green the northeast, midatlantic and midwest.

Brown snakes, or Steroria(I believe that is right) eat slugs and worms, I have heard that they eat soft bodied insects also. Tiny snakes though. 12" max.

I kept a colony of WC brown snakes this winter. They eat earthworms and slugs. Size ranges from 8" to 12". They are very secretive and do not take to be handled. They spend their time buried in substrate or under a hide. They do learn to associate you with food and will poke their heads out and watch you. I let mine go this spring when it warmed up as they were not very interesting.

I believe garter snakes and ribbon snakes eat insects and crickets too. Of course they also eat frogs...

We did have a WC juvenile garter that would only eat earth worms. We also had a CB baby that ate feeder fish, The ribbon snakes I see at the pet stores are fed fish in a bowl.
