Anyways, I live in mexico and my local pet store sells a California king for bout 110 dlls thats pretty expensive compared to the prices ive seen on the net, does anybody know where can I get one cheaper, any internet page which ships to Mexico or something, and any info on the basic needs and care for this snake, THANX

Beto,

It would be expensive to get a herp company to ship from USA to Mexico. Many charge $125 - $150 USD in broker fees in addition to shipping costs for international shipping. The snake would be around $50. You are much better off buying locally for $110.

The California Kingsnake makes a pretty good pet. I like red rat snakes and Florida kingsnakes better, but different strokes for different folks.

Here is a care sheet link: CA Kingsnake

International shipping is pretty expensive, like Kid Dragon mentioned. Depending on what part of Mexico you're in, you could go out and catch a King Snake of some sort....there are plenty of species that reside in Mexico. King Snakes are hardy and make great pets.

Personally, I think a Mexican black king would make a better first snake than a California king.

I'd say they're about the same...each individual snakes varies in its personality and both are equally easy to care for, so it really just depends on which one you prefer personally. :)

Some wild caught snakes would rather starve to death than eat in captiveity. So be careful if you can't get it to eat anything within the first couple of weeks.

This usually isn't the case with King Snakes. Very rarely will you find a WC specimen that won't eat and thrive in captivity.
