There may be some burms running loose in my hometown.. the local "pet store" had an adult pair and the female laid eggs, they threw them in the dumpster behind the store.. i found out about it 2 weeks after it happened.. i know the possibility that they actually hatched arent great.. but it could happen..

"Earlier this month, authorities say a 13-foot python burst after it apparently tried to swallow a live, six-foot alligator whole. " Is that a joke??? Or is this possible im confused :?

I am actually surprised that the image I posted (of the snake having swallowed the alligator and it bursting out) never got more of a response from members here and on another board -- ?

"Experts with the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue antivenin unit says Frances wouldn't have stood a chance against the larger predator."

Why a antivenom unit to "confirm" that the cat wouldnt have stood a chance? lol.
lolol. Pretty obvious...

I can relate. I love our housecat but there are two cats in the neighborhood that keep hanging out in my backyard which means I can't uncage the birds. But my little ball python couldn't take these guys on....

Its just one feral predator vs another, no? House cats do far more damage to native wildlife populations than burmese pythons do, I guarantee it. :)

Really though, the main issues is people breeding burms like puppy mills, and pet stores selling them for 30-50 dollars apiece so anyone at all can go out and buy one. If the people in charge want to solve the problem, they need to discuss it with the pet stores and cut it off at the source... of course, they probably won't do that. An outright ban is cheaper and easier to do.
