I found this small millipede in my bathroom a couple of days ago and was wondering if anyone had an idea on where to start on finding an ID for it. It is about 1.5 inches long and found in Dallas, Texas. I checked BugGuide, but all of the small bronze colored millipedes on that site all look the same to me. I know nothing about millipedes so I was also hoping to get some input on its behavior as well. I have it housed in a small plastic container with some paper towel and a bit of egg flat (which is made of wood pulp). It is always tightly curled up underneath the paper towel and doesn't move until I move it. The only time I've moved it was to take its picture though. It seems to go dormant and "wakes up" when manipulated. Any input on what it would eat as well? I'm going to release it outside underneath some dense vegetation, but I would like to take some more pictures of it under my stereo microscope first if possible. If that is not advisable and it should be released immediately, given I know nothing about them, let me know that as well. It is such a nice and gentle little thing I don't want to harm it. I found it at night cruising around my bathroom floor and I had to capture it before I accidentally stepped on it.
Thanks all!
