Friend of mine is in the market for a small (under 12") lizard. We've looked at the usual Leo and Fat tailed geckos, day geckos, and etc but I know there's more out there I just cant recall or havent found it yet.

Said friend is a reptile newbie so something relatively undemanding would be good. Colorful is a plus, and it would be nice if it was something calm enough to handle from time to time.

I'm so out of touch with the lizard pet trade I'm really not sure what all there is these days.

What about one of these guys.......????

They like it cool 65-70 degrees, dark and moist. They come from New Guinea. They eat crickets so not a hard pet to feed.

Good place to ask

You can ask here and/or browse the categories and forums.

Also, you can get an idea for the maintenance and setup cost from the care sheets here.

Right now, we are keeping an anole (not good for handling) we caught on the front porch. We have plans for getting a leopard gecko in May when the reptile show rolls into town and letting the anole back into the yard.
