Hey everyone,
I recently got a T. blondi sling (around 5 cm) just over a week ago. It molted within the first few days of arriving. About 5 days post-molt, I started offering food and have been trying every 1–2 days since.
At first, the issue was that it couldn’t seem to pierce the exoskeleton of small dubia roaches or crickets.
However, once it managed to do so, I noticed a new issue, it would hunt, crush, hold onto the prey for a bit, and then toss it without actually eating much (if at all).
Like, I’d feed it at night and by the next day the cricket still looks untouched.
Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour in slings? it’s the first time I’ve seen this kind of issue.
Could it simply be full? Though, is it likely for a sling stop eating when Its abdomen is smaller than its carapace,?
I was under the impression that slings tend to eat more than that,
Or could there be an internal issue from the molt that's affecting its ability to digest properly?
https://ibb.co/4gdjs4np (when it just arrived, prior to molting)
https://ibb.co/vxy2L1DM (now, after molting, notice the smaller abdomen and how the cricket looks much intact after a night)
Thanks in advance!
