I'm going to be trying my hand at raising wolf spiders, fishing spiders and jumping spiders next year to sell online. Problem is, I don't have any idea on what kind of food to raise.

I know someone here uses firebrats and that interests me but I don't know how to raise them, much less where to get them. Same thing with silverfish. Termites are out.

The pet store near me is going to be getting microworms (T. obscurus, I think) here pretty soon, but a search function has revealed nearly nothing on raising them.

What kind of animals do you all rear as sling food?

cricket chunks

flour beetle larva, but they are a pain in the tigerrump, cuz they are sort of hairy and the live in edible substrate, so you have to knock it off them to feed them, otherwise you will get mold quickly

vestigial wing fruit flies, but they are also a pain to herd

mainly cricket chunks, or halves of sm crix, or pinheads

i'm trying to culture some tiny roaches i've caught, especially this crazy little desert species i've only found one of (culture is not exactly cruising on that one, as you can imagine = P )

You could try maggots. Gross but easy to get.
I've considered that, but I can't find a bait shop that sells them. Plus, they're kind of hard to rear, needing rotting meat and all.

I guess I could try peanut butter...

You could always forget about a potato on top of your fridge for 6 months. I found plenty of maggots up there.

You dont need rotting meat for maggots. There is something that fishing tackle shops use that's a bran sort of stuff. I'm sure a Google would bring something up for you.

We've got these *tiny* black crickets down here. They are about 1/2" or so, mature. Significantly smaller than ordinary domestic crickets. I'll bet the pinheads are smaller, as well. If you're interested, and if there are still some out, I'd be happy to send you a few dozen. Just PM me.
