Slightly shocked.

Now i have a degree in zoo keeping and have had pet snakes since i was about 7 but what my 3 year old ball python did shocked me and i'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I was just getting ready to feed my inverts when i heard this gross sound. The acoustics of the room made it sound like it was coming from the ceiling. it sounded kind of like someone plunging a clogged toilet. i figured one of my roommates... but the toilets are on the other side of the house and the plumbing wouldn't go into this room. Then i look around and see my ball python with her tail up and her cloaca slightly prolapsed literally "shooting out" large solid pieces of fecal material (not diarrhea). She also had her mouth open and was rocking back and forth. When she was done she seemed fine and has been acting normally since. Was this just a freak thing or are ball pythons prone to bouts of gas?

I've seen this with other boids and EDBs but apparently not that loud lol

It was loud enough that you could almost feel it in the air. Its good to know that my snake isn't a total freak. Just need a new volume knob...

I kid. Yeah, that happened to mine when I was showing a few friends. My snake got a couple nicknames (most notably, poo shooter). Though, I don't think it was as loud as your's. xD

yes i've had some of my boids fart quite loudly...most notably by 6' redtail boa...every once in a blue moon she'll just start quivering a little and then a couple minutes later...BLAMO! The Guns of The Navarone...scared the hell out of me the first time it happened because i thought she was having a seizure...

it makes me wonder though...could it be something in the gutload of captive feeder animals causing the gas buildup? or are the jungles of the world really filled with the sounds of constrictor digestion gone horribly wrong?

Yep, they have been blaming the monkeys all this time. There is now a monkey activist group ,M.A.G, "monkeys against gas" that is seeking retribution for this injustice.:liar:

My cornsnake farts every now and then... it just sounds like air leaving a tire or something similar.
