Ha, yea they are big. That surprised me too. They are about a foot long. They haven't eaten yet so I'm going to get some pinkies today and see if they will all eat. The thread title says Slendida but my post title says splendida. An edit prob I guess. They lay pretty big eggs. Here's a pic of the old shells.

One of these is the mother. The other is a male but not the daddy. I guess they were about 3 to 4 feet. I found the female already gravid. I don't have the adults anymore. The female laid the eggs and then I traded the adults. Now I'm having a problem. I can't get the babies to eat pinkies yet. The babies are shedding right now. Maybe that was a prob....don't know. I exposed cerebral fluid like I've heard works but they still won't eat yet. Maybe I just need to wait a little while longer. But they hatched about 2 weeks ago. Anybody have any suggestions? There are 7 of them.

I know many snakelings don't eat until after their first shed, so they might be ready to eat in a few days.

also if possibly you might try live for the first feeding.
Congrats on the brood.

Hi,

I totally agree with Thoth, wait a few days after first molt, and they will be feeding machines! ;) As Thot said, try live pinkies first, they need a warm, moving food to start the feeding instinct.
Were the parents wc? Very nice speciemens! I'm envy. :D

Nice looking snakes, man. Those adults are really cool. :)

I miss my little splendida. Bought a hatchling female a couple years ago and she got out somehow. The only escaped pet I've been unable to find. :(

OK, I will give it more time and get more pinkies. Yea, WC adults. I plan on letting two or three babies go where I found the adults next year. It kind of feels good to put stuff back. Never been real interested in selling animals for some reason. But I will buy stuff and trade. But I think I have enough stuff.

Man I hate when stuff gets out! One of the babies got out yesterday in the kitchen. I just happened to see it. Of course, it's always my fault.

OK! Thanks dudes:worship: ! I needed a little encouragement. I was starting to worry about it. It's my first spledida brood. I've had other snake broods but I just don't remember it taking this long for them to eat. But these splendida eggs were real healthy looking and the little snakes were already pretty fat when they hatched. Guess they aren't in a hurry. Thanks again!

Hi,

Be calm, they are huge, what means they have enough "fat" to stay alive long! Doesn't the temp too high/low for them? Try to put them with the pinkie into dark boxes..maybe this will help..
