Made a trip down to SE Arizona last October to find new species of Aphonopelma and help collect material for the description. Tom Patterson(@Philth) and I flew down to meet up with Michael Jacobi and eventually Dr. Brent Hendrixson and Dr. Chris Hamilton.

I found a mature male of our target species at a new location at about 8100ft elevation in the Chiricahua Mountains. We went back to the same location the next day and found adult females and juvies.

Adult male Aphonopelma sp. nov.

Adult female Aphonopelma sp. nov.

A different Adult female Aphonopelma sp. nov.

A few miles down the mountain road is where you can find Aphonopelma chiricahua. We searched the area for awhile but Brent came up with one juvenile male.

He's a happy camper. Haha

We made a trip over to the Dragoon Mountains. We were was successful in finding a some Aphonopelma that maybe a new species as well.

Juvenile

Adult female

We also found a few spiderlings with her.

So you are alive and still involved in Ts

Good to see!

The elevation is quite impressive- be curious to know the average temps up there yearly. I read the blog post about the 50s temp.
