Fairly new T keeper here! Just wanted to share a spider of mine and get aquainted with the arachnoboards ^^

(Apologies for the poor image quality in this, my phone doesn't focus on small things very well. That's a water bottle cap on the left for scale)

This little darling is my Grammostola quirogai sling with her latest meal! (I say 'she' optimistically and for ease of conversation, she is of course too young to tell. Fingers crossed!) Her burrow's under that cork bark chunk, the dip above that is a furrow for watering the coco fiber. She's my first sling that I've had for a few months. She's molted once under my care, shedding most of her old brown color, and while sling care guides warned me they'd have poor feeding responses and would most likely need to scavenge-feed she's actually been an impressive little hunter! (I've been careful not to give her any prey that could hurt her, the mealworm in the picture is probably the biggest meal she's had yet and i checked that it was small and weak before dropping it in. I feed her mealworms/chunks of them whenever she's accepting, but never forced meals on her and stopped for the week after she molted and all that)

Also it surprised me how much she grew from that one molt! Put on some decent size and darkened a ton. This is how she looked whenI bought her from an expo in August:

I realize this whole thing's probably unremarkable to most people on here but as a first-time sling owner and being new to the T-keeping hobby overall it's been quite rewarding so far! so I just wanted to share (and double check I've not been doing anything wrong, being new to this)

My G pulchra/quirogai/whatever is a garbage disposal - not surprised yours isn't struggling with meals. Welcome to the boards!

ah, nice. Still surprised me though, considering how young and tiny she is! And thank you!

Sometimes the little ones surprise you. Can't tell how small yours is but mine has been ferocious since I got it at .75-1" or so.

This is my G.pulchra sling named Chancla. He is a garbage disposal!! He'll take down just about anything, including my finger. XD
I say "he" because maybe if I call him a boy so much, he'll turn into a rebellious teen and decide to be female.
Your baby girl is cute as heck!!

Ps- that is also a bottle cap in my image. :p

Nice! I didn't know about this species' feeding response, I figured it was low/moderate just by their growth rate but I see that was mistaken! Yours looks just a molt or two ahead of mine. I love this species so far, super excited to see them grow in to that glossy black coloration ^^

The slings are so stinking cute, aren't they? So delightful. It's like having a dollhouse scale tarantula but real and alive! I wish I could get a photo of one in a doll's hand. I wouldn't try though, poor things would scrape their butts bald in fear I'm sure. But your baby is precious and look at her enjoying her tasty worm!
