Hi,

A friend got these a few months ago as even smaller nymphs (they molted once since).
The person he got them from said they're Blaptica dubia. Another friend I showed them to told me he's never seen dubias this big.

So here are my questions :
1. Are they really that big? (i.e. is 2 inches 1/4 that big for a dubia nymph?)
2. Are they really dubias? (I know nymphs can be hard to identify, and I can post pictures of the imago as soon as they have their final molt, but that could take some time)

Looks like dubia to me, But as far as the size thing goes, I got some that are pushing close to the 3 inch mark ;)

yeah...pretty much all my female Dubia's are 3 plus inches. nymphs are always about 1/4 of an inch. males with wings around 3.5 inches.

Those are definitely NOT B. dubia.
They're some sort of Blaberus; Either a dark colored Blaberus discoidalis nymph, Blaberus craniifer, or a Blaberus sp. "Hybrid." I'd need to see a pic of the adults to know for sure.
