Sorry I don't have a pic but I figured it is worth a shot. I was in south eastern Florida (west palm beach area) and I found a very small snake. Tried to ID it for a while and couldn't find anything that quite matched but I'll describe it the best I can. I found this snake at night under a bbq grill slipcover. Seemed to be its active time. Very small, entirely black snake, about the length and width of a large pencil lead. May have been young but was very small even when compared to any baby/hatchling snakes I've ever seen. Very reclusive, small, (apparently nocturnal) snake. It ate only small worms and very very small roaches for me before a friend found someone that was interested in it. Any guesses?????

This one's going to be kind of tough, as there are many all-black snakes in Florida. =p

Any other descriptions? Did you have a chance to see the belly of it? What was the shape of the head? Smooth or keeled scales?

I'm going to venture a guess...I found a couple of these where I live. Cool snakes, though I thought they were a type of worm first =p

Brahminy Blind Snake, (Ramphotyphlops braminus) And some pictures:

I think Will is correct. We have basically the same snake here on the west coast. It's the Western Blind Snake, Leptotyphlops humilis. Ours mostly eats ants though. The eyes are vestigial and there is a slight point at the tip of the tail.

You guys rock! That looks exactly like the one I found. Before I though it might have been a smooth earth snake(??) But I wasn't satisfied with that ID this is it.
