Hi everyone,

My millipede is acting VERY lethargic.

I keep her with my leachie gecko in a bioactive setup. My first worry was maybe the gecko hurt her, but she has no signs of damage.

She's barely moving, even when picked up.

- No signs of physical damage

- Her symbiotic mites seem to be almost entirely depleted

Possible causes:

- tiny centipedes, I've noticed them in the soil after examining, about the size of her legs

-Tap water, a few weeks ago I got lazy and used tap instead of RO mineral water

-Heat, it's been a little cooler than normal

I've moved her into a small cage with new centipede free soil
- she has squash, carrots and blackberries, and some detritivore powdered diet
- small bowl water
- tiny heart source side of cage

Is there anything else I can do?

If people have insight into the cause?

I'd read this before, and was worried it might be too late to do anything.

But even if that is the case, I'd like to figure out what the issue is/was so that I can prevent this in the future

Is it dead ? Sorry  .. I tried to keep some once wasn’t any good at it . Yet I can keep my roaches alive mostly somehow .. both eat similar stuff . My mistake wasn’t using a clear container. So I could not observe moisture levels.
How on earth did centipedes get In your soil? , not they harmed the millipede or can even hurt it .

Her legs are still moving occasionally, but she hasn't eaten, or even moved much at all. Seems like nothing to do but wait....but yeah it doesn't seem good from what people said

She's been in there for a little over a year,

I don't know how the centipedes got in, they are tiny so probably just crawled through the cracks. Pretty sure they are just eating the springtails, and maybe the baby isopods, but neither population seems to be having any issues

Ahh I see , I tried keeping stone centipedes before but couldn’t get prey small enough for them so it didn’t end well . I may try a giant one someday , but gotta do research first . Might not be bake to get that til I Move out tho parents would freak seeing those things . Then again they might not even look much at my cages .

Believe it or not,

African Black Millipedes come from AFRICA.

They need HEAT and lots of it, not kept in a cool " eco whatever " climate.
