Sick Beardie

A friend of mine has kept a Bearded Dragon for about 5 years, which recently has gotten a bit sick.

It has not eaten in a few weeks, and also, it has begun looking very thin. He used Repti-Bark as a substrate for a while, and is now using a towel as a substrate while he is sick.

Any idea on what is wrong with it? I did some research, and found that beardies only live 6-10 years, so it is a reasonable time for it to stop ticking, I suppose.

Thanks. All help is appreciated.

It may be his time to go, but I would take him to the vet a.s.a.p!
He could have ingested the bark chips or may have some other
problem that could be treated.
I hope everything turns out ok.
Keep us posted.

I agree..it could be impacted or..dehydrated. When I had mine, he never drank water. I had to give him water everyday.:)

Good luck..

The thing is, its still pooping, so Im not sure about a blockage. And, it has had water itself for its entire life.

Any other ideas?

Sounds like it could have some sort of parasitization. Although the beardie is getting up there in years, I'd take it to a vet immediately. Does your friend provide adequate heat, and some form of UV, like Repti-Sun or something like that?
