Should I keep this gravid jumper?

Okay so here’s the story. Got some sling pots today. (Is that what they are called?)
Captured an adult female Naphrys pulex. Extremely likely gravid, at least 10 adult males within 5 feet of her. She also looks chubby. I’m so curious about Naphrys pulex egg sacks and how many babies they have, how big they are, etc. what do you think? Should I keep her for now? 2491661F-16F4-4B43-9FCF-F6ABEB49A934.jpeg

I will be keeping her in an enclosure similar to this one, but better suited to the environment Naphrys pulex live. Rocks, tree bark, more substrate for digging, etc.

Would you keep a pregnant woman in a cage? Depending on your decision, then you have your answer.

Either way is up to you but her babies will be very small, if they dont take to melanogaster fruit flies i reccomend to just let them out in a nice sunny area with a nice craggy wall like brick or stone wall for them to hunt and sleep in :) naphrys pulex love rocky walls.

since they are native you can just let them go at any point. I had two naphrys pulex and they were very sweet. They never laid eggs in my company, but other similarly sized jumpers had clutches of 5-20 and not anymore than that.

I agree, they sure love sunny bumpy surfaces. There is a few large rocks in my yard that are overflowing with Naphrys pulex. At least 15 adults live there. C000F6A6-FB85-401D-B3F6-D887CBE2D195.jpeg
I agree when I release them I will release them on a wall, sounds less crowded and less likely for them to become a snack.

What do you think? Im gonna put something dark on the back behind the bottle to encourage her to make a nest under the bark so I can hopefully see it well! She’s in there eating a fruit fly.

I had 13 come home unbeknownst to me in some leaf litter for my isopods,2 years ago

As far as babies;I have 2 left of 7 that I saw originally (the babies from a pair that mated of the 13)
The babies are very very small, even the smaller fruit fly and the maggots are to big, bigger than they are,you can barley see the babies
I think they mostly survived on fresh dead fruit flies id put in on purpose that I had died in the fridge to long
I tried raising grain mites from a batch of mealworms, pita, and not worth it,I never saw one eaten either

They are very entertaining and jump a lot higher further than big jumpers
As much as they entertain me;I'm considering releasing them,i believe i have 2 females now;
along with 40 p.Audax I raised from egg over this winter-9 pairings yesterday with no issue
Im giving them a hookup/date/full belly etc as a head start this weekend so they can have a chance and be 'free'

+And the mating dance of the little flea jumpers is funny; as the male will go around twigs etc like squirrels when you try to follow/watch them, while the female chases after till he stops or pops back up and continues dancing

The babies are here!!
I see three, but there could be more. They are alive.

(I do NOT recommend opening the egg nests of jumpers. I did so because I am studying their life stages. I am being as careful as possible)

hi,just hopefully some ideas for you and your new friends?
try smallest type fruit fly larva/maggots even though they are bigger than the babies
they will see them wriggling around
and FRESH dead fruit flies-both sizes they will scavenge-
that's how mine made it 2# years till there offspring released just last week
they are very interesting/entertaining to watch
such strong leaps upward and outward for size
only downside-very hard to vid/photo on iphone while holding magnifying glass in front of camera lol-
i almost bought some clip on lenses-wish i had

I left their little enclosure outside to let them go, but when I came back, everyone was still in there. BUT a bunch of springtails made their way in there and the jumpers are eating the springtails! Perfect size for them. Since they have food now I’ll keep them a little longer.

Oh cool deal, that works
you know thats funny what you said because
I also left my naphrys pulex ( flea jumper) enclosure out under my bushes for like 2 weeks?
and brought it in the other day.
'just in case' i put the knee high nylon stocking back over the top so if still there I would know it.
I then added fruit flys
And the next morning was checking my p.audax and mantises etc.
and there /he/she (at least one) of the two that had been in there
had just caught and was munching a big fruit fly-
so I said 'well hello! and good morning' :)
guess they liked there piece of bark/wood chunk house in there after all lol
