I know that the C.hatihati is an arboreal old world and burrows when young. All of the videos i've seen talking about the hati hati they're somewhat calm and slightly defensive. With 1 year of experience of keeping and old world i think i am ready for a jump in to arboreal old worlds. I am gonna keep researching and always think that if i am ready for it.

What Ts do you currently have? And how long have you looked after what you currently have?

I currently have a g.pulchripes and a m.balfouri. I kept them for 1.2 years
I wouldn’t if I were in your position. I’d get more experience with Ts first and get the c hati hati later

Maybe a Psalmo would be good. I like my P cambridgei and P irmina

You are already keeping an Old World Tarantula with M. balfouri (Baboon) as Your House Guest.
Native to Socotra Island located in the Arabian Sea between Somalia, Africa & Yemen, Middle East.

Arboreal wise, Irminia or Cambridgei would be my top vote. Imo, way more attractive spiders and cheap. Get both.

If you do your research beforehand and use common sense, you should be fine. Keep in mind that they're quick and can be defensive if they're trapped out in the open. They're also much smaller spiders than the size you'll see listed on care sheets. About 4.5-5 inches for adult females is more accurate. When small they're very reclusive. Also a moisture dependent species, so make sure you're prepared for that.

I will say if it is what you want, go for it.

if psalmos not being available is reason to go with the ow, be patient.

gives you time to setup your arboreal enclosure. You can probably order from poland.
They have everything there.

if not, why not a caribeana versicolor?

i have two p murinuses. They were very scaredy in the begining. Now, they stand their ground. It gets quick real quick. Sometimes its so quick, you can’t tell it actualy leaped out and went back into its hole.

I know the species you are looking at is an arboreal, but thats it, they can fly.

only you know what youre ready for. Look at many rehoming videos, especialy those that fail (not many post those). You’ll see if you want to deal with that.

i like Daves little beasties the most because he has a way with tarantulas. And he’s always really calm.

in the end, many people will tell you don’t. Which can easily make someone want to even more. I say do what you feel you are ready for. Making sure you spent hours researching it until you don’t want it anymore: then, you know you researched a lot.

if you really want a psalmo first. Wait. I should have waited for a species i really wanted. But i got excited. I love my tarantulas. Just ran out of spider budget when what i wanted came up. And surprinsingly, quicker then i thought.

I thought this was a different guy whom I find annoying, and stated that in another thread. Honestly all YouTube has gone downhill since it's creation...but yeah DLB is a very solid channel, good info and presented in a calm and organized way. His egg sac pulls are awesome and often have me on the edge of my seat.

I know what you mean about youtube. Dave was one of the first channels i stumbled upon. I like his no fuss approach. No bling. Just calm, to the point. He has not changed his style that much since his first videos either.

emphasis is on tarantulas, not special effects.

How many rehousings have you done on the M.balfouri?.Its one thing to house an Old World, cranky T one time. And its another to rehouse them as they mature multiple times.
Having said that,if you think you what it,i say go for it.Just know what your getting into when they eventually need bigger digs.

O sp Hati Hati are awesome, but I agree with the above statements. Unless you are confident with rehousing OW fossorials I would wait. They live fossorially but enjoy arboreal climbing surfaces so some height to enclosure and vertical surfaces will do you well, especially when larger. Their name translates to "be cautious, but be brave" or "watch your heart" I've had no issues but when they get large they can sometimes have quite the attitude, and they have speed to back that up so be sure to heed the warnings. Definitely an advanced species, I'd only get one if you have kept other Asian fossorials and know what to expect.
