I love mine. I bought my sling at .25" and it grew quick. Healthy appetites for sure. They can be defensive but I haven't experienced any issues. I provide sub for them to burrow and they retreat.

Vitalius chromatus is a good choice for ease of care and good feeding response, just be mindful of urticating hair.

Are a pretty “active” species as far as defensiveness and prey response but every individual tarantulas differs in temperament and are greatly influenced by enclosure set ups

Great species grows medium speed for me. Lost my last to a sucking stomach issue or something but I got a sling .5” that was .25”.

Is it imperative that it grows fast?
Ill note that its pretty subjective asa well, this is one of the quicker and there is indivodual differences that take place as far as growth rate is concerened. (saying this for benefit of OP and not you Darkness )

Yep in my house slings grow extra slow , I had a mature male lp hook out at around 10 years or 11. Some people just take half that time .
Temperature
Feeding schedule
Quality of feeder
