Hey guys!

So I decided to look into this website as an alternative method of shipping tarantulas. On their website it states "absolutely no venomous reptiles". Tarantulas aren't reptiles so I decided to ask. I contacted them through email and they stated that yes, you can ship tarantulas. They ship through FedEx. Thought this was interesting and I had to share.

Thoughts? This may be an easier/better alternative than shipping directly through FedEx. Anyone done this before?

It probably depends on who you ask. When I approached them a few years ago about it , I was told "No, no venomous animals" whether it be a reptile or spider.

I had previously gotten the "green light" from ShipYourReptiles.com to ship tarantulas. Using their service (they contract with FedEx) saves you 20% over standard shipping through FedEx. Additionally, I know a Bearded Dragon breeder who uses ShipYourReptiles.com for his business and he said that you can try using the promo code Beardie40 for 40% off shipping.

I've know about them forever. Chad Brown is the founder along with Robyn. Chad Brown is a well-respected member of the herp community, being both a breeder and dealer himself when he had his business ProExotics. From all accounts, he's a stand up guy. I've talked with him and Robyn too, and I would ship with them if needed. I've never used their service mind you. Just vouching for them based on the years I've known Chad from the herp community. What a terrible tragedy that wiped out his reptile breeding facility.

Also, they are the founders of TheReptileReport a pretty nice site as well. Where one of our very own members won an award for photography, that would be Papilio.

It was a fire. I forget the specifics; but I'm fairly certain he lost all his animals, including the high dollar ones that he bred, but you can easily google it. Chad owned ProExotics. Closing up business because one wants to do something different wouldn't be a tragedy in my opinion hah. He was in a business for a while too. It wasn't like he was a pro football player and bought up a bunch of things and started the business for a year and poof it went up in flames. It was definitely a loss.

Just like what happened to Swift's Inverts.

Ah so true! I was particularly excited by that especially since the site is 99% herps. It's an impressive award IMO.

You should put a graphic w/that on the board's homepage if it isn't there already :D
