Shield-back katydid

i believe this is a shield-back katydid. it might be from the genus Neduba, but i have done zero actual diagnostics, etc

i should be able to feed it a omnivore diet. it has already eaten a bit of carrot for me :)

due to the long, blade like ovipositor i think this should be a female

I'd like to try to culture these. They are pretty wild looking. it is actually a bit more green than i got in the pictures.

I thought it was a grasshopper going by the first pic, then saw the other pics. How big is it and where did you find it? Arboreal?, it kind of looks like a field grass diddly to me. There are some interesting flightless(both male and female) green ones in my yard. They look like round leaves, make a lot of noise when you catch them.

i would say it's body is maybe just a bit north of 1/2" long. with the blade it's around 1"

i snagged it off the ground on a trail through oak trees and dry, mostly dead, high "weed" type plants.

i have no idea about orthopterans at all, so i could be way off base with my guess

Looks like an Atlanticus sp., but it would be awfully lost if so:?
