So, first of all, I want to make sure that the /planned/ enclosure will be okay for them. I'll be getting two baby (roughly 4") leopard geckos and housing them both in a 10 gal. tank. For the bottom liner/substrate, I plan to use that reptile carpet stuff, since I've read that sand can cause problems for babies. Then, I'm going to get an "under the teak" heater and put it on one side, then place one small cave on the side nearer to the heater, and one in the opposite corner. Near the "cool cave" I'll place a water dish. The tank should probably be around 80 degrees F, about the same that I keep my hissers at. No over head lighting or anything like that. I'll also line the "cool cave" with paper towels and mist them daily, to keep them moist, for shedding, etc.

I plan to feed them gut-loaded, and calcium-sprayed/dusted hisser nymphs, two per day, every other day, is this an okay diet?

So, does that all sound alright? I'm planning it based on what I've gathered from various care sheets.

Also, wanting to clear a few facts, I read that leos can live for 20+ years, and that males get up to 10" long. And, how would I be able to tell the gender of the babies?

Thanks,
Annika

Set-up seems alright to me. I would say diet seems alright as well, although it depends on the size of the nymphs.
The longest living leopard gecko lived about 40 years.
All I know about sexing geckos- or any lizards for that matter- would to be look for hemipenal bulges and the femoral pores. Luckily, I just so happened to have this link opened in one of my tabs.

Haha, just found the link myself, Ryan! But, many thanks ;) I've also learned that they'll need a small dish of calcium powder, and a roach dusted in D3 once a week or so.

And, good news, I've also convinced my mom to let us get the two early! So, at the earliest, we'll get them tomorrow :D I plan to name mine Pandemonium B)

Personally i wouldnt use the carpet. I would use either paper towels, slate, or ceramic tile. You should place the heater on the bottom. They need the bottom heat. Make sure to keep the temps around 91-92F. You will need a thermostat to plug the heater into, to acheive the correct temps. The cool hide, i always use sphagnum moss. Works great. Paper towels would work too. Make sure when feeding them to not use feeders larger than the distance between the leo's eyes. Good luck.
