Found lots of info on sexing Damon diadema and other species, that some can be sexed based on pedipalp size(and apparently this doesn't apply to d. medius).

Here are some Underside shots of my medius

Medius 1:

So, thoughts? I'm hoping for a pair but it looks like I probably have two female Damon medius.

Maybe show us top view of both individuals but based off of pedipalps looks like two females.

correct, two females, you see on both pictures slightly the reddish hairs on the posterior margin of the genital operculum (even if they arise from the next sternit), all Phrynichidae has this character in females, easy to sex in all stages!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
I'll have to order in a male in the near future

Just an update for anyone interested, I received a male today and put him in with one of my girls--they're already at it!
I circled the stalk as its pretty hard to see in the picture, she is yet to collect it but I'm very excited to already see this behaviour.
Babies in 3-6 months here we come!

Hello everyone!
Can I be sure that my D.medius is a female?

Me again.
Wanted to know from what instar the red hairs can be used for sexing Damon/Euphrynichus?

These two D.medius are L4.

Size comparison with the above mentioned female:

Those two are males of course (are you sure about L4? Looks much older to me). I'm pretty sure the red hairs appear early on in their development, like 3rd instar. But in this case I can see these are males just by the shape of the genital operculum.

These are captive bred, so I have no reason not to trust the breeder.

What do you mean by "the shape of the genital operculum"? I used exuvia, so i cannot guarantee they are not deformed.

Sorry if the questions seem dumb, i never owned amblypygi before, only Ts and lizards.

That's something you might want to look up. I can see that the smaller ones are males even by looking at the photo showing all 3 molts together. I suspect that my eyes are well trained at this point, but it's possible to tell even without looking for red hairs.

Well, thank you for the reply. Glad to know that I can breed them someday.)
My juvenile E. amanica will be the next one for sex determination after moulting.)

Very late to this board but I recently purchased a Damon medius. I belive it to be male and also mature but I’m looking for clarification from an experienced owner. I have attached pictures below although they are not the best as it’s always hidden.
