Sexing Damon Medius via Molt

Hey folks,

Wondering if you could help me sex my juvenile Medius.
I'm leaning towards male, I can't see any of the little red hairs present on females but I also may not have looked hard enough.

Are these the same specimen? The focus is a little off on the second photo for me to make a confident call, but the first photo I'd call a male.

How do you differentiate? I looked at the photo of the operculum for damon medius from jordan cadiot and it seems to resemble a female more? Is the operculum of different damon species different?

I'm still new to this so chances are I'm looking at it wrong

It's the same! Sorry for the blur. I'm actually in the same boat as @Purplepuffball . The reason I ask is because the operculum looks more female but doesn't have the hair. I know the hair comes with age but I believe my animal is at least a year old.

The shape of the operculum can be variably distinct but the red hairs in Damon are absolute.
