female ? :?

male ? :?

Ok and i feel stupid asking this :8o
can 1 male serve more females ???

(reason for asking, i always thought i had 2 females and just ordered some more vinegaroons to get males) but by looking at these recent pictures i'm thinkling it seems to be a couple ?
(they have been underground without food or water for almost 5 months  , reason why i hadn't sexed them properly yet)

Based on my understanding, you have a pair :) and you have sexed them correctly.

Are they together now? Do you believe them to be mature? I've noticed that mature males will have distictly bigger pedipalps than females, but prior to maturity their builds will be about the same.

Congrats Steven, I am positive you have a pair  , and as Wade said you have sexed them correctly. Males can be mated with several females. My males have been with multiple females, just give him time to recover between each pairing. Body length for an adult is around 2.5 in (~6.35 cm), though most usually mature smaller.

Ok thanx Mike

so i guess they are ready to be introduced :}
what's best ?
setting up a new enclosure for the mating,...
or introduce the male into the female cage ?

there's not much info regarding vinegaroons in Dutch literature
(only 2 pages in the Terrarium_guide of E.Bruins)
which describes stimulating egglaying by giving a period of high humidity.
a good advice? or are there other things to take in notice ?
Have you got any CB vinegaroons from your mating attemps ?
maybe even some pictures of small ones, egsacs etc....

any advice would be great :worship: :worship: :worship:

When I mate mine I usually make up a new breeding tank. I usually use something that has a lot of ground area. I put flat rocks and logs where the male can attach the spermataphore to, with usually a soil base for the tank. Just introduce them into the same tank and they will find eachother. If they are ready to mate they will follow the steps below in the link.

In my experience the mating ritual is a fairly long process and it has not lasted less than 8 hours the numerous times I have done it with my pairs. Sadly my females have passed on without getting any eggs out of the last set of matings.
After mating I will put the pair back in their respective cages and feed heavily. I try to mate them in late summer, right before they go down in their winter dormancy. There is no reason why you could not try mating them now. The female will usually get really fat, not that most 'roons don't already have an appetite and get fat any way. The female will enlarge her chamber at the end of her burrow and seal herself off. A couple weeks to two months after sealing herself oof, she will lay ~30 eggs in a membrane sac that will hang fron underneath her abdomen. She will be really touchy at this time and any disturbance will cause her to eat the eggs. A couple months later the eggs will hatch and ride on her back like scorpions do and stay with the emale till the first molt.
I have not got any CB babies from my attemps, my last attemps the females passed on during dormance, and I have gotten numerous eggs sacs but no babies yet, I will have to keep trying.
Hope this helps Steven :D

I haven't paired any of mine up yet, but based on observations of their habits in the wild, they may be simulated to breed by rain. When I've collected in Arizona, it was easy to find the burrows because it was obvious where they had just recently opened them due to fresh dirt around the opening. This corresponded with the arrival of "monsoon season" during which the region gets about 80% of the rain for the year.
