Hello. I have an idea to sow grass in the terrarium .... Substrate in the terrarium is a finely ground coconut fiber, so the most suitable for seeding grass? And if this grass will not disturb scorpions and spiders? In a terrarium I have Opisthacanthus Rugiceps in the second Acanthoscurria Geniculata ... This terrarium looks very nice and colorful grass

Will not harm animals in any way please reply, because its important for me :)

PS. Is such a sown grass will grow, even when not lit the terrarium? One light is the light of day, reaching the window

Don't scorpions tear plants out? I imagine they'd do the same to grass shoots. How humid do you need to keep it to grow? Do the pets prefer dry?

I'd like answers to these questions too, might be something I'd try.

Pretty good idea but it will be tricky for it to grow undisturbed.
Following ur idea, u could saw grass in a tub and let it grow strong then bury the whole container in ur tank so u can feed it without adding excessive water to the soil, it would stay contained.

That would look cool. I would think the biggest threat would be the scorpion digging underneath the grass before the roots took hold causing some havoc.

As for coco fiber I don't know if it is the best substrate for plant growth without any other type of nutrition or fertilizer, Ive heard that Plantation soil(coco fiber mixed with some soil with minerals I guess) can work with plants but Ive never tried it.

Maybe you could get a strawberry/blueberry container(the small 8"x5" or so mesh plastic ones) and sow the grass in there with some rich soil or humus, then plant the crate into the coco fiber. It would be a smaller patch but it would allow an effective nutrition content plus barricade any haphazard scorp trying to dig under or around it. Just a thought

Edit/ last paragraph just like Lucozade3000 said.

I use rye in my moon crabs enclosure. It was left over from a grainery job lol. They crab tends to eat it but it looks real cool. I'm not sure if your emps would munch it but they likely would dig it up eventually.

I've used bird seed. It doesn't last very long but it's cheap. I've never looked at the diff kinds of seed in the mix and haven't tried it in years.

I am glad that the discussion has developed. Although he no longer know whether or not to sow the grass! Some write that will be more room to show off mites, parasites, and others - that OK. And I will add that this species of scorpion which is a species of grass would not digging mink, etc. - also a problem with the roots will not.

Just as you think. Is that grass will grow just fine daylight?

Here you have a link to a forum with pictures, where the grass has grown coconut fiber in 5 days!

i can see for myself that i didnt noticed any mites or roots roting etc. it just doesnt look very nice so far. in fact i sow this grass to keep burrows from collapsing. i figured out root structure will keep soil from collapsing. it is growing very fast under a lightbulb and im using plain dirt from my backyard with little sand and coco mixed in and a thin layer of coco/sand on the top.
