ok, first off, can anyone tell me if the two are in fact the same animal with a different name? I've done alot of searching, but no reliable source I've seen has proven this to be so.

I raised sea monkeys about 2 years ago when i was in college, they were alot of fun, sometimes I would bring a few to school (in the little life boat carrier) well, actually nearly every day haha.

then I got into triops and ghost shrimp for a while.

I'm ready to get back into the hobby, and I have made one attempt with brine shrimp, that didn't last long.

I have one of those little glass bottles with like 5 trillion brine shrimp eggs.

what I want to do, is start a colony in a 2 gallon aquarium.
I'm not sure which would be best, spring water or distilled...
also, I'm not very good with measurements, what would be the right water/salt mixture?

I think thats all I need to know for now.

When I was in marine bio, we used dechlorinated tap water mixed at 0.022. A hydrometer would really help you out.

I use brine shrimp as feeders for my tropical fish, I just let tap water sit for a couple days to get the chemicals out & add some sea salt...my smaller fish love them.

distelled water is only a few bucks, and it last for days. if you want to be safe i would use distelled. o yeah and be carefull of your mixture of salt water. i did that before and my seamonkeys looked like they were bieng tortured. and slowly died.

well, I just added the cysts, I hope everything works ok.

I am a little dissapointed that my effort to dry the clorine water out of the tank left tiny fibers that are at the moment floating around like debris in a storm. they will settle when I stop the bubbler. maybe they'll get stuck to the alge when it starts forming.

last time I bought jugs of water it was 58 cents, but now it 's gone up to 69 so thats not too good. but it's ok. better than gas prices eh?

I hope I didn't place too many eggs :-0 they will just have alot of friends.
