Ok. So, I'm a nerd. As a nerd I play, and sometimes DM, D&D.
Anyway, I'm working on a custom campaign setting, and the elves in my campaign are a seafaring race, with different coat of arms for different noble houses. I've got some picked out, but I'm not sure for the last one if I should use a jellyfish, or a sea anemone. And yes, I know that immature jellyfish are very similar to anemones. And yes, I have one for each, but, well, they're both little poisonous things--it would seem like they would be too similar. I'm not sure. Help me decide!

Would the fact that some species of anemone play host to fish and invertebrates make any difference (trying to pair the social style of the race to the creature in some way)?

I'd vote for the jellyfish though, seems like their higher mobility would somehow be more fitting.

Not really, they aren't that cooperative. Any cooperation is the result of fear, intimidation, and piracy. My elves aren't nice people--the goblins are a lot better in many respects (but worse in others). Just wanted to change it up a bit.;)

haha sounds like it
I pick jellyfish because they have a deceptively gentle and harmless quality about them. Their mysterious aura only draws in more intrigue. They are beautiful and elegant, but can certainly be deadly.
I think that pretty much sums up drow lol

Nope, those are the regular elves, and eladrin (I play 4E). The drow actually live in the deep, dark forests, kind of like the drow in Eberron. My goblins are based on the Roman Empire, with orcs forming the peasant class, goblins being middle class, and bugbears and hobgoblins being upper class. :D

The Eladrin (the noblest house of Elves) use tentacles as their symbol---possibly a Kraken, possible Lovecraftian tentacles. It's a mystery.
Jellyfish wins.;)
