Hi! This idea is kind of strange experiment. I wander, what if colony of some small partenogenetic scorpions (like tityus or lychas sp) live in one bioactive terrarium with some samall roaches sp.
I have one 20*30*20cm tank with really lot of hiding spots. In theory I want put there 10-20 lychas tricarinatus and small domino roaches(both from india). Scorpions have lot hides in bark, roaches will mostly burrow in substrate. Scorpions will eat roaches during night hunt. So maybe i will feed only roaches, they will slowly breed and scorp will eat them. I know that during molting roach can damage scorpion, as well as cannibalism among scorp can be. But if it is sustanable "popping" colony and lot of hiding it can be reduced to minimum. I will keep some scorpions individually to have brods even somethig go wrong with communal setup.
What do you thing about this? It is only concept now.

Welcome to the Thunderdome!
Yep) I think that I am not first one who think about that. But it is curios to know about real expiriense. I didn't found any info in web about <edit> like this). Only theory and warning that it is not best idea. Nothing new)

If you are not bothered about roaches eating the scorpions during molting or cannibalism between the scorpions, why not chuck them all down the toilet and save yourself some time.

Predictible but reason answer, but i just search for any practice experiments to criate balanced ecosystem model. Not interesting in emotianal reaction, only data.

Trying to recreate an ecosystem than involves predators and prey in captivity within a very small environment will just lead to 1 whole mighty (insert your favourite industrial language).

Not the same and not what you asked but I'm sure you'd be able to create a fascinating multi species tank of certain non predatory inverts that would be intresting to watch develop.

Thanks. In past i had a big collection of salamanders and newts, worked with other amphibians and reptiles as well. Sometimes I created some systems were isopods and springtails breed enough to keep small salamanders feeded.
Problem with arthropods is post-molting fragile (and omnivorous of some feeders like roaches make this real problem) . We all know that.
All that question is not about care sheets. Care sheet is my opinion - is instructions that give stable, predictable result. Result mean healthy animals and regulary and good quality breeding results if needed.

Of cource any communal (if we talking about mostly arachnids sp) and multi sp settings can not give absolutely predictible results.
I post this thread because I wandered why there not any posts, articles or another data of trying to make this. Curiosity.
Maybe white dwarf tropical woodlice? They seems to be very harmless. Other woodlice sp can be intersed in post-molt invertebrates as sourse of protein sometimes.

I'd imagine there's not much/any info on it for the same reason there's not any papers/articles on a fox living with chickens. The outcome is already known without needing data.

You will need a bigger tank.

I once left about 10 roaches in with 2 H. Spinifer to see what would happen, kept an eye on them and neither scorpion was in pre moult, all the roaches were dead within a day, a couple eaten but the rest just dead and laying in the substrate
