Planning to pick one up from Tom Patterson’s site. This is going to be my first centipede but I heard they’re pretty easy to care for. Any care info/advice would be appreciated. Also does anybody keep Florida bark scorpions and if so, is a heat mat necessary? I heard they can be kept room temperature (68-74 F) but just wanna make sure.

S. longipes are very hardy for sure. I got mines from a vendor for free and it does just fine overall. Just give it some substrate to burrow and moist substrate and it's going to do fine for the most part. It's a very low maintenance pede in my experience.

Would a mix of top soil and peat moss work, like maybe a 40/60 mix. Also for enclosure size I was thinking a 12x8x8”, it comes 5”
