So there is a beautiful black and yellow garden spider in front of my parents house. My younger brother and step brother hate bugs and want to kill it but my mum wants to save it by capturing it and giving it to me as I keep tarantulas. How would I go about keeping it as there is likely going to be a frost next month and if we move it to a nearby forest it will have to remake the whole web and probably die from the frost before it catches much. Any advice on what to do in this situation?

The sooner you obtain it the better so it can set up a web for feeding. I’ve only seen them in the wild. They eat small prey, like mosquitoes. So you’ll need the right size prey. They don’t live too long in the wild, about a year if I recall correctly.

Id put in a vertical setup, with some sticks or support that allows it to make a new web if you’re going to do it.

They make very large webs and I wasn't able
to get it to do so as I didn't have an enclosure wide enough for it to do so.
