Savanna Monitor

I think i may be getting a Savanna monitor some time soon. The pet stores arent the smartest though so i hope you guys can help me out. What kind of enviroment do they need to live in? How big do they grow? And what do they eat? The one i was looking at was about 7 inches i think.

Thanks, that gives me all the info. i need and i guess i will be searching for some other lizard. Preferbly something smaller that can live in a 20 inch long, 10 inch wide 12 inch tall teranium for a while.
