I've always been interested in salamanders and will never forget the moment I found my first one. I grabbed it and ran home as fast as I could. Me and two other people were looking for stuff under logs when I was about 9 years old, a few decades ago+, I never said anything, I just ran home. lol I didn't want anybody to hold it, didn't trust them haha. I never did get really into it though, kept the locals I found, sirens, smallmouth, Tiger, some newts in the past. I've found some amphibian sites and forums, found some places to buy too but I'm trying to find out which ones are the best for buying salamanders, any opinions?

This doesnt really help, but thought i would share with you. I have caught a couple of mudpuppies before while catfishing. One time i kept one, and it turned out to be a pretty awesome creature to keep. I just kept him by himself in a normal aquarium, fed him nightcrawlers that i bought from walmart. I always rinsed the crawlers off to remove any mud on them before placing them in his tank. He was super cool, id like to get my hands on another one. Good luck!

A friend of mine collects Florida aquatic salamanders and newts, and he also breeds Axolotls and some exotic newts. If you pm me, I can find out what he has and how much.

Oh that's good, I've wanted the normal wild color form of Axolotl for a while, I'd like to breed those. I'll PM you later about it, thanks. Yeah catfish, I used to look for mudpuppies when I was a kid but their range didn't quite reach Bryan Tx, that's where I grew up, I just didn't know better. I guy caught a siren down the street and people were calling it a mudpuppy, haha, east Texas!, I was 13. But I want to move back there, further east and south of there.

Axolotls are awesome:) You cannot go wrong with them! The wild color form is one of the nicest looking forms, imo. Check out the classifieds of http://www.caudata.org/ people often have Axolotls for sale of various color forms and sizes. Good luck finding them!
