Has anyone kept one? I've been looking into getting one and I was curious about care, diet, housing, etc.

Are you referring to Opheodrys aestivus???

It seems to be a pretty easy keeper with a diet of mainly crickets and other insects. Seems to be a tad feisty, but is certainly cute and too small to hurt when he bites. They are quite arboreal and like to escape, so I would certainly advise making sure the lid is secure.

I would just use aspen bedding and some sort of artificial plant... I would think that height would be an important part of your enclosure.

This one has been in captivity for 2 years or more. He is the one that I have had experience with...

And the 'huge' mouth {D

My fiance and I had two rough green snakes to add to the family. They were fine. very settled. eating well and then...randomly one died! and the week later the other one did...only a month or so after being bought!

I guess I would suggest is...make sure they are captive bread so there arent any problems with the snake from the wild

Oooooooohh! How cyuuuute! I'm so gonna get one. Petshops 'round here don't sell the lil' buggers, so I'll probably have to order one. What do you think would be the best time of year to order one of 'em? Would they survive? How'd you get yours?

i have raised plenty..but they are a bit of a task..being arboreal.
easily escape too.
also they are rear fanged although envenomations are rare.
97% of the ones i raised would bite randomly..nothing serious.
i fed mine crickets.

awesome. my first snake. I caught one of these when I was 4(I thought it was 5 or 6 but I asked my mom, and she remembered it like yesterday)

all I remember was playing outside and my mom coming out screaming my name, I go into the kitchen and there on the floor slithering fast and getting no where on the vinyl floor is a green snake. I don't really remember catching it, but I guess I got bored with it and forgot that I had left it in the floor. I put my mom through alot of stuff like that. she still loves me though.

I think you're thinking of vine snakes. RGS's don't have ANY teeth.
