This happened a while back, but I thought I would share the story with fellow T lovers. About 5 months ago, me and my girlfriend came home to a 5 gallon fish tank that housed my MF rosehair, on the ground smashed.
When I first walked into the house, I really didn't know what my eyes were seeing. What the *explicit* happened? Then my eyes SEEN and my heart sunk. The tank was about 5 feet off the ground, and one of my cats had knocked it over. It was on the ground laying like someone had tipped it backwards. The sides of the tank were blown out. Smashed. The front of the tank was broke and big pieces were in the tank. The hide was tipped as well as her water dish. I didn't see her in the tank. Loose T or dead T . My first T and it's a goner, I thought. I looked around but didn't see her. Maybe she got away from the cats and hid. I finished picking up the scattered glass and went to go pick up her tank. I picked up her hide and whaddya know!{D There's my girl! Scared as can be. She would not budge from her spot. I got her in a little KK and examined her. Aside from dirt all over her she looked ok. My novice eye could detect no damage. I set up a new 5 gallon and put her in it. A couple of days later I gave her some crickets and she ate them. Now its Aug. and she is still here.
(She no longer resides on the 5th floor, she is almost at ground level. I have learned my lesson. My cats cannot be trusted:embarrassed: , especially the fat one.{D )

I just thought I would share this story because I can't believe she came through that event unharmed.

She is Wonder T!!!

Cats!!!

Yeah I don't trust my cat either! I admit, I would have a dead cat if I came home and found my G. rosea's enclosure knocked over.

Luckily I'm back in college, and we can't have pets...and I don't...besides the 8 T's I snuck in lol, but no cats!

Do you have any other T's that were effected during your cat's espionage?

I admit I knew the cats(especially the young one)were intrigued by the new spider but I didn't think it would lead to that. I don't know which cat did it. My girlfriend thinks it was the older cat(7 y/o), but I think it was the younger one(1 y/o). That was the only T I had at the time luckily. Now my younger cat Nermal has grown an attraction towards my smithi. Not the goldknee next to it that bulldozes all day. Go figure.

Bottom line, I don't trust the cats 'tat all:)

a long long time ago in a land far away my cat got in my scorp room and I didn't have tops on my Emps. He reached in and got tagged in the lip and came running out with a scorp on his paw. He shook the crap out of the Emp but the scorp was OK ,just a tiny scratch on a tergite.

This was during a party at my place and someone went in and let the cat in.

Aside from allot of licking the cat was fine.

Thanks for a great story and a happy ending no less! I must admit I put off reading your thread thinking it was not going to end well the for the T. Lucky for me, curiosity got the best of me. Guess it did for your cat too.

My cats knocked over my B. smithi once. I was crying and freaking out when I picked the KK up off the tile. I put it back on the counter and started to straighten out the substrate, all the while thinking, "Oh my god she got out and the cats got her I'm going to find dead Priscilla bits all over the house" but as I pushed some of the sub over she erupted out of it, unharmed. I was so grateful.

And then she went on to molt and prove to me that she was actually a he. And that's the story about Priscilla, my MM B. smithi. Haha.

I sent my B. albo flying across the room once... kritter keeper and all. It was an accident of course, and I was horrified. I picked it up and saw her crawling out from the wreckage that was her hide. She is alive and well today... :)

Ive been worried about this lately, we have a room full of reps / inverts and next doors cat likes to invite herself in from time to time. Our living room is on the second floor above the conservatory, which she jumps on to get into the living room through the window.

Then bug room is connected to the living room on the same side of the house, and I often leave the window open at night to allow it to cool the room down, as well as during the day during the summer to avoid it overheating.

I dont see how she could get into the bug room seeing as its second floor with nothing to jump up onto, but she loves cricket tubs and playing with them so god knows what she'd get up to in there!

when the cat comes in, pick it up and pet it and make it feel nice and calm. slowly open the second story window and toss it out into on coming traffic. then you don't have to worry about the cat messing with your Ts again.

This sort of thing is why I've banned my cats from the room the T is in - nice heavy, slides into wall (so they can't just push on it to open it) door in their way. They knocked down a cricket cage early on and I had the little buggers running around - definitely didn't want to risk that happening to my Ts - especially the risk of them getting hurt or killed!

I might try to get glass doors for the cabinet my Ts are in - the back is open for ventilation but too close to the wall (and too heavy an entertainment center for the kitties to move to get behind). That would make the room able to be open without risk...but until then, its off limits to all kitties...

Glad to hear the T got through ok though!
