Rosea regrows two legs

We got this rosea from my girlfriend's mom about 9 months ago. Its two front legs had been closed in the lid of the container it was shipped in and it tore them off. It was also not eating. I hand fed her until she was able to hunt crickets herself. She molted recently, and now once again has 8 legs.

This is her molt. You can see how the legs were torn completely off. Pretty amazing that they can regrow this much in one molt.

Wow, what a fantastic recovery - doubtless made possible by your dedication to her as a keeper. Right on!

Do all tarantulas have this ability?

If I may, how do you hand feed a tarantula? It may sound ignorant... but I really dont know what you mean... please explain.

all tarantulas can regrow legs with a molt. they are mostly a bit smaller/skinnier than the rest, but with another molt or two you wouldn't know it was missing anything.
and with the feeding the tarantula (not sure if he did it that way), instead of tossing in a cricket, you offer the cricket with tongs/bigg tweezers. or if the tarantula is missing a fang or two you mash up the crix or at least cut it open.

haven't had to do it, but i heard about it.
hope this helps

To hand feed I held a cricket or meal worm right against her fangs (using chopsticks) until she grabbed it. Once they grab it they usually eat the whole thing. Once I got her eating again, she started to hunt on her own. I only had to hand feed her for a couple of weeks.

I am reviving this thread as an update. This tarantula has lived many healthy years since the regrowth of her legs. She seems to be slowing down though and I think her days may be numbered. She's been a great spider and I will miss her if this is the end.

Another update. She successfully molted! Seems super re-energized now, really healthy looking! Her regrown legs are totally indistinguishable from the others.

Good job man . She's lucky to have ended up in the hands of such a dedicated keeper .
