Rosea Having a good Soak?

Well this morning when I got up, I checked to see how my MF Rosea that I got last night was doing, and to see if she made any kind of web to put a bit in with my MM to try to convince him to make a sperm web. Well no webbing at all yet, and she was in her hide. So I got ready to go to job #1 today and when I left she was headed to the kidney shaped water dish she has and I figured she just was gonna have a drink and I went out to work, 4.5 hours later I get back from work and she is laying in her water dish like she is having a soak and has been in there now for almost an hour. When my others have a drink they are there and gone before I realize it.

Maybe her tank is too dry? I got her the eco earth of coco fibers since that's what she was housed on, and I just broke it off and crumbled it up, it said to soak in water, but I figured since she was a rosea, I didn't need to. But I did take a spray bottle and sprayed the bottom of the tank and then put the coco on top.

she could just be thirsty. If you just got her, maybe she didn't have access to water (or maybe she just didn't care about drinking water) where she was before.

My rosea hangs out over her water bowl when she's thirsty, and will sit there all day. Not a big deal.

Possibly she is getting ready to molt? One of mine (hentzi, not rosea though) did something similar a few days before molting.

Yes but Hentzis like water, Roseas hate being wet. I'm baffled. You sure she's not just hovering over the water bowl? That would sound more logical ._.

Well at the store, she had a much larger shallow dish of water, that did have water in it. But the kidney shaped water dish is just a hair deeper then the one she had. But yes she was infact laying in the dish. When I went back to check on her just a little while ago she was ontop of her hide. I was thinking that maybe she was soaking to soften up herself preparing for a molt?

Mine spends alot of time in her dish. She will climb in and stay there for a few hours. A few of the slings I had from her would do the same thing. Not sure they are drinking all that time.
I have actually thought maybe they are soaking off dirt and stuff. Not really sure. Here is a pic of a MM I had. not long after he made the sperm web behind him he was in the water dish for a long time. Which is why I think maybe he was soaking off what had stuck to his abdomen.
Just a guess. He could of also just been replaceing the liquids he had lost makeing the sperm web.

Well I just checked on her again and she's in a different spot now, and still no web.

They have to drink. They hate living in damp places but they do enjoy their water when they get thirsty. A dehydrated one will spend all day in the dish when it finally has access to water and can look like a completely different (plumper) T when it finishes drinking.

Yeah that's how my OBT and my MM Rosea were when I got them. They didn't have access to a water dish. So once they found it, they spent several minutes drinking, but just the fang area was in the water, not the whole body, and she had a water dish with water in it.

My rosie does this when her dish is nearly empty. She doesn't bother when it is full.

you need to soak the coco fibers so it can expand. if u didnt it could be taking water from your t.

Why would you soak the substrate? A rosie would hate that. They like it very dry and are fine if they have a water dish.

That's what I was thinking. Even tho rosies like it very dry, that coco expands hugely when rehydrated, and remains bigger when redried. It might be so hydrophilic that it's drawing moisture out of the air & maybe even affecting the T somehow... It is hard to wait for the coco to dry out, tho, once it's soaked! :)

Well when I broke it off I ground it up a bit, mostly looked like peat with some coco strings in it, and I even found a rock in it I think. Should I mist the cage really well? She seems fine now and had been moving around a bit.

You already know it likes things dry. Don't mess around with its substrate and disturb its substrate webbing. The T was just thirsty and took a big drink. Just keep water in the water dish.

Yeah I decided to leave her alone. I haven't seen her near the water dish since. But I've put her by the males cage, to see if that would encourage him to build a sperm web, and see if they would start druming. But nothing as of yet, but it's only been 2 days.

sorry to tell you but A. henzis hate water almost as much as rosie do. i treat my henzi the same as my rosie bone dry with a water dish...if i was to acciedently overfill my rosie or henzi water dish they climb the sides...but to the op id say she is probly dehydrated and needed to drink and bath. mine does it from time to time but not often. i have seen her dippingher toes in he water and cleaning her mouth and will occasionally get wet...remember Ts are very clean and it should be a shocker if they bathe too...
