With all the threads on isopods going I thought I'd put a funny story up. My wife works as an enivironmental ed teacher at various camps. At the one camp she went to one of the most loved activities of the kids is to have rollie pollie races. Simply put, you draw a big circle on the concrete with chalk and put a dot in the center. All the kids go catch rollie pollies and put them on the dot, the first one to the exit the circle wins. The kids will literally sit there racing isopods until you make them stop. You can really have some fun if you make sure all the kids are racing actual pill bugs. Then you bring in the ringer and race a sow bug, telling the kids you will always win. Of course you do as sow bugs are 10x faster than a pill bug. After a few times you can explain why they are different. The kids love it and are soon bringing in all kinds of creepy crawlies for you to ID! Kids love this activity and it is a great way to get them really interested in inverts. Even seems to work on the ones who think all bugs are "icky"{D
