Through a minor mishap i now have a few dubia and discoid escapees running loose in the garage. Although i can put the colony in the shed and nuke the garage or wait until winter, I would like to round them up (dead or alive) The problem is that my wife likes dead roaches only slightly better than live ones and has a lot of her stuff out there in boxes. Is there a way to trap them, attract them and kill them or something, just so the bodies aren't left laying around the garage? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would try putting out a small pile of 'attractant' food like banana. Leave it dark for a while then check on the food pile periodically. Worth a try *shrug*

try some food in the middle of the room and during the night try ambushing them

if that doesnt work and you want them dead try to put some boric acid (borax, sold in walmart as "roachaway") at all possible escapes from the room and then set poison roach traps along the walls and by the food

my $0.02

boric acid also works WONDERS for keeping ants (or any other insects) away from my pets, i sprinkle a barrier along the whole house and some along outer doorways.

Since these are non climbers you can leave a nonclimbable container out with some food in it and a climbable object/ramp leading up to it. They fall in and can't climb out. I've used this method catching B. latteralis escapees, I just leave an empty container up against the outside of the colony enclosure with a strip of cardboard between the two.

I agree with bill. Once for my B. latteralis and B. fusca I put a styrofoam bowl in there hoping they could climb in and out so they can feed, but the sides were too smooth. They would climb in by a cardboard ramp and couldnt climb out. It was pretty funny.

I like glueboards. If you ever trap anything you want to save, you can release them with vegetable oil.

are they attracted to the glue boards or are they typically just placed along the wall where the traffic is?
