Have a friend that was breeding crickets by the thousands no issue no changes to food water etc. Since adding Lats to the breeding room(separate tubs) he is noticing once the crickets reach about 1/4" they die and turn black, back legs fail, they flip over and die, acting as if they are poisoned. We were discussing if the roaches could be giving off a scent that is effecting the crickets?

Odd question but trying to figure out mass cricket death

I am no expert but I would try moving the roach species to another room. From there see if the crickets remain to die off. If they do it's not the roaches if they do not then I would repost your concern after doing a simple control experiment.

I forgot to mention that you may also want to try moving the crickets to another room or both to seperate rooms(this will isolate the room itself from possibly being contaminated).

well... considering lats are used as feeders by tens of thousands... i kind of don't expect that to be the trouble, directly

i would be much more inclined to believe you brought a mold in or some other pathogen or toxin in, rather than that the lats are directly poisoning the crickets
