I've just wasted more time washing Vaseline off my arms. I've spent 45 minutes searching. I'm tired. Who sells roach tape? (First one with a Vaseline joke gets a junior nad-kick!)

Try velcro or some other 'hair like' abrasive surfaces. I've noticed most bugs don't like 'dense hair like' structures...and please no one make a joke about that as I just realized what terri was thinking about when she said jokes...

How about KY jokes? I think it would be a nice touch if you got your roaches the warming kind.

Some place called the herpshop was selling a product called fluon <spelling?> I believe it was along the lines of teflon that can be painted around the top edge of plastic containers. A bit pricey but supposedly will last a long time, I had no luck finding roach tape.

Velcro, vasoline and KY, I feel like Roger Rabbet after the first 4 knocks!
(So where were your arms? ) Ah, much better.

From my recent thread about ants, I am trying electric strips around the perimeter of the 'spider cabinet' . You can buy self adhesive foil from an alarm supply company, as used on windows. Connect the contacts (also available there) and attach a small power supply or a 9 v battery to it. (I would actually recommend a variable 0-50 supply, it depends ho determined your vermin is)

Fly paper? Any Ace Hardware.

climbers!!!

Vaseline, food safe grease, or teflon paint are all used to try and stop climbers from escaping. I use the teflon paint and sell it, but it mainly works well for lobsters, dwarf hissers, and a few others. Some of my other really good climbers can get past it and just about anything else. I will have to try the velcro and see what happens. I use the bug boundary (teflon) plus have lid with vents on my climbers and don't have any escapees, but I will never use vaseline or the grease again because it gets everywhere.

Fluon is also a very good choice. If something helps to stop the ants form escaping... it will stops almost everything.

Someone once told me that they used sewing machine oil to contain their climbers. I've never tried it myself, but he swore that it worked.

Does the Teflon stuff come off on your extremities when you reach in the tub to get feeders, clean, feed, etc.? What I'm looking for is something that will stay ON the tub!

Drakie, I admire your restraint. I've NEVER seen you pass up on a joke. Velcro doesn't seem to make sense to me, would'nt that just facilitate EASIER grip to climb out? :?

Ever notice how the roaches avoid mine and waynes arms? Velcro stimulates a very hairy area, I've tried using both the soft fuzzy side and the hard prickly side both are about 90% effective for me anyway, The Roaches try to grip them and become entangled or avoid them all together. this wasn't used to try and keep a roach in somewhere just an experiment to see if they'd cross a line or go around, and I believe the ratio was about 7-9 outa ten went around I repeated it 5 times :)

and ps reply to my pm! I do need to talk to you!!

Ok, I really don't know what to say here...

However it does seem to me that velcro is not extremely reliable because it doesn't actually STOP them, just discourages them.

Teflon paint

It does rub off a little here and there, but it come right off and is not messy like vaseline. Plus if you want to clean a bin it comes off easy with soap and hot water. Like I said before it stop lobsters 100%, but about 5-10% of small hissers and a few other really good climbers can find ways past it. It is important not to shake it or let it bubble to much and then it works best.

Well, I think I'll stick with the Vaseline then!! It stops 1005 of them from escaping. With hundreds in the colony, "stops 7-9 out of 10" and "5-10% of small hissers got past" are really bad numbers! I need 100% containment.
