Anything off the shelf for stopping roaches besides Vaseline? Mine is sliding down the side of the container. I was hoping to avoid coughing up for Bugstop.

I hear some people had some success mixing talcum (baby powder) with rubbing alcohol (75%?).

I know cacoseraph uses extra virgin olive oil and he has great success with it. Inexpensive, too.

Barrier or breakfast

The thing about making your own bug protection is that it should be a temporary measure until you can find something suitable, you never want to use those items for too long for obvious reasons.
Vasaline melts, and runs all over the place leaving the roaches plenty of time to leave the encloseure or for other items to enter.
Talkum powder, olive oil an dvarious things sometimes become food for roaches, Remember folks roaches eat anything including glue from envelopes, so why wouldent they eat the olive oil? Anything that gets stuck to the olive oil is potential food now its eaven tastier with olive oil.
You never want to take a chance aspecially if your raising species like lobsters, hissers, and various climbers because they can infest your place quickly.
Be safe folks when it comes to containing your roaches, use something that is proven to work and last, It might cost a bit more than vasaline but you have peace of mind at night not thinking, hey is that vasaline still working on the lobster tank?

Sincerely
