Roach Q - Food On Top Of Crates OK?

Okay, the picture below is my new setup. I'm going to fill the roach tank up with egg crates and put the food at the very top. Notice in the picture that there is a slice of apple at the very top of the stacks of egg crates. I was wondering can I maybe get a dish and fill it up with food and put it above the crates like that?

Will the roaches, including the babies, get to the food item thats all the way above? Basically, will this be okay?

This will help me warm up the tank a bit more and would be easier for me to replace the food item since its at the top and near the opening. Thanks!

yea man, it works perfectly. roach can sense or smell food so when they are hungry enough, they'll come to the top for some. no worry, i think that you care for your roaches too much. on second thought, i do too, so i guess that makes the two of us

Even the babies? Cause i hear babies like to burrow and I was wondering if it was too high for them to conviniently reach and might lead to them dying?

the babies feed on the parent poop or frass (is that what it's call?) that is at the bottom. we are talking about B. dubia right? because that what it looked like in the picture

don't worry, they'll be fine
and yes, they eat fruits and other food as well when they want to.

I would put a dish...this would prevent the fruit from dripping and then causing your eggcrates to mold.
