Does anyone else have nightmares about their roaches, either feeder or pet, escaping? I frequently have dreams that my dubia have overtaken my house or swarmed from their container. Last night's nightmare consisted of them evolving to climb and fly and then storming out of their bin en mass and quickly wreaking havoc in my house.

not just a nightmare

It wasn't just a nightmare for me... it really happened back in January, right after the White Plains show.

One of my purchases was a dozen orange head roaches from The Roachman. I was so excited and put all the new arivals in glass tanks. The roaches went in a small tank that I thoughtlessly stacked on top of a ten gallon.

I went to bed but was awakened by a crash in the middle of the night... glass, peat and roaches seemed to be everywhere. Thankfully I knew there were only twelve to be found.

I recovered 10 and an aborted egg case. When my husband came out, I lied and said just one was missing... at the moment it just seemed to sound better. My cat helped me locate the other 2 the next day.

I really thought this was going to be the end of me ever being allowed to kept critters at home. The family was very angry with me.

well ive never had a whole tank escape but occasionally after i pack up a bunch for shipping and what have you........

ill see them running across the floor later that night. Its never many maybe one or two, but it is a shock to be watching tv and see a bug roach running across the floor right in front of your foot.

Roaches don't bother me whatsoever, so I don't have nightmares. I find little nymph escapees all the time that got out of the lizard tanks instead of being eaten.

Until I changed my roach setup, I was getting adult escapees. Still no big deal.

My wife however hates roaches.

What really sucks is going to bed after being out looking for bugs and feeling something crawling up toward your armpit and pulling off a tick.

my first 15 discoids were kept in a well used rubbermaid tub in the warm laundry room. I didn't know that they can climb plastic if its roughed up enough. Luckly it was my time to do laundry when i found a female in the laundry bin with a bunch of new nymphs. I carefully shook out each piece of laundry in the bin and saved every nymph(i think) Good thing it was my turn to do laundry. I did move my rearing area to the garage and invested in some vasaline.
