i was wondering if anyone has ever tried separating te breaders from the rest of the colony and then just adding to the breed pot as they mature. i have lots of small creatures and they eat alot of nymphs and this would make it alot ezier to grab em ;-D but i didnt know if this would have any adverse or positive affects as i wanna keep a healthy colony (i dont care what anyone says roaches are fun even if you didnt need to feed em off). also is lots of friut and veggies better than water? becuase i hate water crystalls and would love to be rid of them

That's exactly what I do. I have matures in one tank, and feeder nymphs in another tank. Every month I clean out the new nymphs from the breeder tank.

I do that with my B. lateralis because I need to feed off the very small nymphs and it would be very difficult to get them out from the main colony. I just grab the egg flats and place it in a new bin then let the eggs hatch and I then have all newly hatched nymphs.

I hate water crystals as well and fruit and veggies are a good substitute but the cost can start to add up if you have large colonies. I think I am going to work on some water bottle dispensing units. I read some posts about them a while back and need to get on that.
