I don't know if any of you remember the film, "The Revenge of the Nerds", where a group of "nerds, well...,for lack of a better word" got the best of the bigger and stronger jocks. Well today, I think I experienced the revenge of the crickets.

I had decided to sequester the female crickets in hopes of getting a crop of pinheads for my new sling. I handled them just as I always do, reaching in and picking them out one by one. This process took quite a while. I thought I must have inhaled some cricket debris, because i felt a dry, nasty taste in my throat and sinus cavities near the end of it. I proceed to wash the out and went about my day.

About 3 hours later I felt an intense discomfort in my midsection, I felt like nausea and diarrhea were both going to hit at the same time, I was really hot (feverishly hot), I had the chills and an intense desire to sleep. So I called my wife and then went to sleep.

About an hour later she called me to tell me she took half a day out of work to come home and care for me( I got a great wife! ). I woke up about 5 minutes ago. I still feel a slight diarrhea feeling and I'm still warm with slight chills, but not like I was.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else?

Great movie, great soundtrack. "...clap your hands, everybody...and everybody clap your hands". Booger is the shiznit!

These are perhaps the dirtiest creatures that people choose to keep in their homes & probably great disease vectors & I would not be surprised if you caught a little virus or a hunk 'o bacteria. From now on, refrain from licking your fingers after handling these filthy little beasts;)

I use a cheap dust mask while dealing with crickets and roaches. Mainly because I have heard of several people developing allergies to the roach frass after long periods of time and that would suck. Hopefully using the dust mask will stave that off, plus inhaling roach crap just can't be very good for your lungs.

I would use one for crickets too just cause of the stink, but I haven't fed crickets in a very long time.
